Region: Okanagan Valley
Bottle size: 750 mL
Golden in colour, the wine displays notes of lemon zest, golden delicious apple, nashi pear, honeycomb, vanilla and butterscotch.
On the palate, the flavours intensify and are contained in a frame that gives the wine a full, round, soft and rich texture. This is a decadent, textural chardonnay that commands your attention from the first to the last glass.
Growing conditions: The 2013 growing season was one of the best in the past two decades. The vines budded in late April and we had very warm consistent weather all the way through the growing season until September and October. There were a few challenges with hail in the warmer months and an intense period of rain in September, but the momentum and quality in the season could not be denied and we ended up picking some varietals 3-4 weeks earlier than normal. We feel that our wines from 2013 will be exceptional across the board.
Winemaking notes: The grapes for this wine were picked from the Gravelbourg on the Black Sage Bench on October 14, 2013. The fruit was hand picked, hand sorted, whole-bunch pressed, and fermented slowly at cooler temperatures to ensure maximum retention of delicate aromatics. When the fermentation was about 80% complete, the wine was transferred to a mixture of French oak barrels and allowed to warm up and complete fermentation. The lees were stirred regularly for 11 months to build body and texture in the wine. The wine was bottled in September 2014. 600 cases produced.
